Serenity Valley Academy is a private homeschool dedicated to advancing our students’ self-awareness, self-efficacy, and self-sufficiency, with the goal of having them become leaders in their communities.
SVA's goal is to create self-sufficient students.
Welcome to a world of limitless possibilities, where the journey is as exhilarating as the destination, and where every moment is an opportunity to make your mark on the canvas of existence and the only limit is the extent of your imagination.
SVA is a private homeschool with students located across the US. The goal of SVA is to create young adults who will become pillars of their community by becoming self-aware of their capacity to execute behaviors necessary to produce specific performance attainments. This self-efficacy is promoted by assisting students to become self-starters who value education in all forms. As such, our students learn to become self-sufficient and able to move through life with the tools necessary to work within their communities.
School Motto: Per adversa triumphat – Through adversity comes triumph
SVA operates Pre-K through Secondary school courses. Advancement is based upon subject area competency, not grades or ages. Students start as young as two years old on campus if toilet trained. Early childcare courses include music, art, language development, and basic reasoning skills, including mathematics and science.
From roughly ages six through eleven, students are placed within the academies’ Lower Division. These courses work similarly to a traditional elementary school in curriculum. The classes are not divided by ages, however, with all students being taught the same topic. Differentiated instruction occurs within the lessons, with each student having an Individualized Education Plan (IEP). The teacher scaffolds the lessons to work just above each students’ current level, necessitating the continual acquisition of knowledge in the student. Older students practice by assisting in peer-teaching with younger students.
At around twelve years old (or when students show level six (6) proficiency in the base courses of Language, Mathematics, Science, and Humanities) students start Upper Division. Students, parents, and teachers sit down to discuss the student’s interests and create a two-tier educational plan. This plan offers opportunities for vocational and university preparational training in the student’s interest fields. The plan is revised every six-months until the child reaches age fourteen or proficiency level eight (8).
At fourteen, students follow the British GCSE/A-level format, electing to either focus on vocational or university preparation. Students create a pathways plan for their selection that includes the entrance requirements for their program. Those following a vocational track should dedicate the next two years to completing their requirements for graduation at sixteen. These requirements include the minimum fourteen (14) credits of base curriculum for graduation.
Those electing to complete the university track program will continue from ages sixteen-eighteen focusing on college equivalency courses (Advanced Placement, Dual Enrollment, Early College, and CLEP exams). These are equivalent to the U.K.’s A-level format.

Courses at SVA follow a top-down approach. We design each course to have a direct link to a University program format, with two (2) classes a day – one in the AM from 9-12pm, one in the PM from 1-4pm. The classes run either MWF or TR, with Upper Division Astronomy taking place Friday evenings. Classes run all year, in eleven (11) week blocks, with a one week excursion during week eleven (11) in Session 1-3, followed by a two (2) week break.
